This policy explains how ZipMarketData subscriptions are billed, how to cancel, and when we refund. It applies to dashboard plans bought directly from us through Stripe. API plans bought through the RapidAPI marketplace are billed by RapidAPI and are covered by RapidAPI's own terms — see the last section.
Try It Before You Pay
The free dashboard plan requires no card and no trial. It allows 15 API requests/day — about 5 full ZIP analyses, using the same live data as the paid plans. Use it first: it is the cheapest way to find out whether our coverage and figures suit your work, and it removes most reasons a refund would be needed later.
The 30-Day Free Trial
- A payment method is required to start the trial, and nothing is charged during it.
- At the end of the 30 days the plan converts automatically to the standard monthly price — $19/mo for Pro or $49/mo for Business — and renews monthly until cancelled.
- Cancel at any time before the trial ends and you are never charged.
- One trial per account. Cancelling and re-subscribing does not start a new one.
- If the payment method fails when the trial ends, the subscription is cancelled instead of continuing unpaid.
How Subscriptions Are Billed
Paid plans are charged monthly in advance from the date the subscription starts (for a trial, from the day it converts). Each renewal covers the month ahead. Upgrading mid-cycle changes the plan in place and Stripe prorates the difference; downgrading takes effect at the next renewal.
How to Cancel
Open the dashboard, go to billing, and use the Stripe billing portal link to cancel. Cancellation stops all future charges. Your paid features stay available until the end of the period you have already paid for, then the account reverts to the free plan — your saved searches and alerts stay where they are. You do not need to email us to cancel, and we never require a phone call.
When We Give a Refund
- Duplicate or erroneous charges — refunded in full, always.
- A charge after you cancelled — refunded in full.
- A trial that converted despite a cancellation you can evidence — refunded in full.
- Extended service failure — if the Service or its data was unavailable for a substantial part of a paid month, we refund that month in full or credit the next one, at your choice.
- Goodwill window — if you are within 14 days of your first paid charge and the plan has not worked out for you, ask and we will refund it, provided the account has not been used for bulk extraction in that period. This applies to the first paid month only.
When We Do Not Give a Refund
- Partial months after a cancellation — access continues to the end of the period instead.
- Renewals you forgot to cancel, beyond the 14-day goodwill window above. Cancel from the billing portal at any time; the next renewal then never happens.
- Dissatisfaction with data coverage or figures after substantial use, where the free plan was available to test exactly that first. Coverage and methodology are described in the API documentation.
- Accounts suspended or terminated for breach of the terms of service.
How to Request One
Email support@zipmarketdata.com from the address on the account, with the date and amount of the charge and one line on what went wrong. We aim to reply within two business days and, where a refund is due, to issue it within five business days. Refunds go back to the original payment method; how quickly it appears is up to your bank, typically five to ten business days.
Chargebacks
Please contact us before raising a chargeback with your bank. A chargeback freezes the account while the dispute runs and takes far longer to resolve than an email. If a charge was genuinely wrong, we will refund it without argument.
Price Changes
If we change the price of a plan you are subscribed to, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before the new price is charged. Price changes never apply retrospectively to a period you have already paid for.
API Plans Bought Through RapidAPI
Subscriptions to the ZipMarketData API on the RapidAPI marketplace are contracted with, metered by and billed by RapidAPI. Cancellations and refunds for those subscriptions follow RapidAPI's policies and must be raised through RapidAPI support, not with us. We can help with data questions and technical faults at any time regardless of where you bought your plan.
